New payment readers coming to campus vending machines

Published June 23, 2026

Students, faculty, staff and visitors will soon have more ways to pay at campus vending machines.

Campus Dining and Shops is upgrading card readers on all campus vending machines to accept major credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Wallet through tap-to-pay or card insertion. UB Card payments—including Dining Points, Campus Cash and FlexiBull Bucks—will continue to be accepted through a card swipe.

As part of the upgrade, cash payments and purchases through the GET Mobile app will no longer be accepted. The new technology is designed to provide a faster, more convenient purchasing experience for customers buying snacks, beverages and other vending items.

The conversion began in early June and is expected to be completed by early August. According to Campus Dining and Shops, the project reflects its ongoing efforts to enhance campus services and meet the evolving needs of the UB community.
