UB Giving Day is an opportunity for faculty, staff, alumni, students and friends of UB to come together and support students via a 24-hour fundraising opportunity.
The 12th Annual Giving Day kicks off at noon on April 15 and runs until noon on April 16.
During this special event, donors can find more than $330,000 in matches and challenges that can double, triple or even quadruple the impact of a gift.
A new opportunity this year involves UB’s iconic Canada geese, which flock by the hundreds every year to the North, South and Downtown campuses. For a gift of $18.46 or more — in honor of UB’s founding year —to the UB Fund or the UB Fund for any school, donors can adopt one of these campus legends and give them a name — and at the same time make a life-changing difference for UB students.
Donors can also take their support to the next level by signing up for the Giving Day Ambassador Program and helping to spread the word about UB Giving Day.
Ambassadors can earn exclusive Giving Day prizes. The You+2 program rewards ambassadors for securing two or more gifts using their personal ambassador link. In addition, the top three ambassadors, determined by number of donors, will have a gift made in their name to the fund of their choice, courtesy of a generous gift from President Satish K. Tripathi. The first-place ambassador will see $1,000 donated to the fund of their choice, second-place will get $500 to the fund of their choice, and third-place will get $250 to the fund of their choice. Sign up for the ambassador program.
Faculty and staff can also visit the Annual Giving tables outside One Capen from noon to 3 p.m. on April 15 and inside the Student Union (outside, weather permitting) from 8-11 a.m. on April 16. Those making a gift of $31.60 — to represent the more than 31,600 UB students — will receive an exclusive wireless charging pad.
When the UB community comes together, the university can achieve greatness. Giving Day aims to raise awareness and support for important initiatives and opportunities, and spark some friendly competition.
