The School of Management will host a free lecture April 7 by George R. Botic on the regulatory implications of artificial intelligence in accounting and auditing.
Presented by the school’s Helen and Oscar Sufrin Lectureship in Accounting, Botic’s talk — titled “How AI is shaping auditing and accounting”— will be held at 5:15 p.m. in Knox 20, North Campus.
Botic is a member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and recently served as acting chair. Previously, he was director of the PCAOB’s Division of Registration and Inspections. In that role, he oversaw the registration and inspection of all domestic and foreign accounting firms that audit the public companies whose securities trade in the U.S., as well as all broker-dealer audits. He has also served as director of the PCAOB’s Office of International Affairs.
The PCAOB was established by Congress as the main regulator for audits of publicly traded companies in the U.S.
The free lecture, open to the public, will be followed by a Q&A. Advance registration is required by April 5. Guests may begin arriving at 5 p.m. and the presentation will begin promptly at 5:15 p.m. For more information, contact Rachel Sluberski.
The Helen and Oscar Sufrin Lectureship in Accounting brings distinguished business professionals to the School of Management to speak about accounting issues. Funding is provided through the generous support of Leslie Sufrin and Gerald Sufrin, a longtime UB professor, in honor of their late parents.
