The Office of the Provost and the Faculty Senate are seeking nominations of interested members of the UB community to serve on a new committee being formed to consider the future of general education at UB.

The Future of the UB Curriculum Committee will be co-chaired by Despina Stratigakos, SUNY Distinguished Professor of architecture, and Robert Adelman, professor of sociology and criminology. The committee will begin its work this spring, with the majority of the work taking place during the 2026-27 academic year.

The UB Curriculum is the university’s innovative, core, educational experience that’s designed to provide undergraduates with the experiences and liberal art foundation they need to thrive in a complex and global society. Built around high-impact practices to improve student learning, educational quality and student engagement, it has positioned UB as a national leader in offering a dynamic general education program.

Since nearly a decade has passed since the curriculum’s launch, UB administrators felt it’s an appropriate time to again consider the future of general education at UB, with the benefit of faculty, staff and student perspectives.

Nominations, including self-nominations, of faculty and staff to serve on the committee, can be submitted through the UB Provost website by March 31.
