It’s getting to be that time of year again — time to celebrate the holiday season by giving back. UB departments that want to bring some holiday cheer to local families in need can take part in the university’s annual Adopt-a-Family initiative.

Each holiday season, the Office of Community Relations partners with local community centers, organizations and schools to identify families who may be experiencing financial hardship or are otherwise in need. Participating departments are matched with a family and provided with a wish list to guide them in their holiday shopping.

Departments interested in taking part in Adopt a Family should contact Community Relations and provide the following information no later than Nov. 10:

• A department contact person.
• The number of family members your office would be comfortable providing gifts for.
• Any requests for family background information (e.g., an international family).

Department contacts will receive information on their families by Nov. 17, along with details for dropping off wrapped and labeled gifts at Allen Hall in December.
