Sudhir Suchak, clinical assistant professor of finance in the School of Management, will discuss his new book, “Last Boat to Freedom,” at a talk and book signing Sept. 26 at the UB Bookstore on the North Campus.

The event will take place from 12:30-2 p.m.

Book cover Last Boat to Freedom.

“Last Boat to Freedom” is Suchak’s first-person account of his childhood in Zanzibar, East Africa; the island’s little-known revolution; and the events that followed his escape from the island as a stowaway, including his first “bewildering” year in America in 1970-71. The book follows his life through 2005.

A 1974 graduate of UB with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Suchak earned an MBA from Canisius College. A member of the UB faculty for more than 25 years, he also taught at Canisius College and worked in the private sector at Marine Midland Bank, M&T Bank and HSBC Bank USA.
