UB Bulls linebacker Red Murdock has been named to the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®.
Murdock is one of 22 college football players and one head coach recognized by Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) for their extraordinary commitment to community service.
An All-MAC First Team selection, Murdock has been as impressive off the field as he has been on it. Along with volunteering at countless community service events, he is founder and director of Virginia Homework Helpers, a free K-12 tutoring program for students in his home state of Virginia. He founded the organization after seeing many of his peers struggle in school with no extra help, which led to many of them getting into trouble outside of school or dropping out. He hopes this helps young men and women finish their education.
Murdock is the second UB player to be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Former UB wide receiver Fred Lee was honored in 2013.
This year's team was selected from a record 195 nominees submitted by college sports information directors and coaches nationwide, spotlighting student-athletes who lead with purpose — from fighting substance abuse to creating opportunities for youth and families.
For the second year, Allstate is partnering with the Wuerffel Foundation to join two of college football's most meaningful community service honors: the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy.
Members of the UB community can cast their vote for Murdock as the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy recipient and Good Works Team captain from among the 11 FBS honorees. Voting closes Nov. 10. All 11 FBS honorees will be invited to New Orleans to take part in a community project before the 2026 Allstate® Sugar Bowl®.
