In meetings sponsored by the U.S. State Department, two UB researchers recently spoke with a delegation from the Republic of Georgia about U.S.-China relations during meetings held last month at the International Institute of Buffalo.
Jessie Poon, professor of geography, spoke about China’s economic policy and regional role, particularly within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC); Poon is co-chair of the U.S. consortium for the APEC Study Centers. David Castillo, professor of Spanish and co-director of the UB Center for Information Integrity, spoke about the history of foreign propaganda in the media.
The visit to Buffalo by the delegation from Georgia was the last in a series of visits to cities across the U.S. this summer aimed at creating a dialogue about how transatlantic allies can defend common interests.
