Since 2008, student volunteers from the School of Management’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program have prepared more than 11,200 tax returns, bringing nearly $14 million back into the region. Now, the program is being recognized nationally as a nominee for the IRS Pacesetter Award.

“Anderson Inside Out,” the UB Anderson Gallery’s annual summer celebration, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. July 12 at the gallery, One Martha Jackson Place, Buffalo.

Arlene Bergwall, formerly assistant dean of academic program administration in the School of Management, died May 28. She was 97.

Campus Dining and Shops brought home silver at the American Culinary Federation’s (ACF) collegiate competition during the 31st annual Chef Culinary Conference, held last month at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Cross-disciplinary research in structural biology is the focus of UB’s first Western New York Structural Biology Symposium, to be held Aug. 6 at the UB-Hauptman-Woodward Research Institute (UB-HWI), 700 Ellicott St., Buffalo.

A celebration of life will be held Aug. 4 at Shea’s Performing Arts Center for Saul Elkin, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus and founder of Shakespeare in Delaware Park, who died July 14.

UB has agreed to partner with the University of Danang, a leading technical university in Vietnam, on educational and research programs focused on the Internet of Things, embedded systems, electronics and telecommunications engineering.
