CEO Magazine has ranked the School of Management’s new Online MBA program No. 64 in its annual Global MBA ranking. The Online MBA was just launched in fall 2023.

With a weather forecast more reminiscent of winter than spring, Bike Days on the North and South campuses — originally set for this week — have been rescheduled.

The Aurora Borealis Duo — featuring soprano and UB faculty member Tiffany Du Mouchelle and percussionist Stephen Solook — will perform in concert April 9 at UB.

Lawrence “Larry” Southwick Jr., associate professor emeritus and University Research Scholar in the School of Management’s Finance Department, passed away March 15 in Venice, Florida. He was 85.

Nutrition — what we eat and the processes that bring it to us — influences child health and development, the progression of disease, the environment itself and much more. The 13th Annual Global Health Day Symposium: Nutrition and Global Health Impacts, produced by UB’s Office of Global Health Initiatives (OGHI), will offer a range of topics underscoring the importance of nutrition in the state of global health. The event is co-sponsored by UB’s Community for Global Health Equity.

Distinguished health services researcher Lusine Poghosyan is the speaker for the School of Nursing’s 27th Annual Bonnie Bullough Lecture, the keynote address for the school’s 11th Annual Research Day on April 19.

UB Giving Day is an opportunity for the local and global UB university community to come together and support students with a 24-hour fundraising opportunity.

A service will be held April 13 for James Edward Ponzo II, assistant professor in the Department of Africana and American Studies who died April 4. He was 46.

The Slee Sinfonietta, UB’s professional chamber orchestra in residence, and renowned flutist Carol Wincenc will perform in a concert showcasing Chinese-American composers on April 16.

Award-winning organist Aaron Tan — who also happens to be a materials scientist — will perform on UB’s legendary Fisk pipe organ in a concert on April 19.

“Chante la Vie, Chante,” a scintillating musical program representing the golden age of French song, will be presented by the Compagnie Caravague of Paris at 7:30 p.m. April 27 in Katharine Cornell Theatre in the Ellicott Complex, North Campus.

Robert Dell, professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, has been named department chair. He will assume the role on July 1.

Scott R. Santos, Empire Innovation Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, died April 9. He was 52.

SUNY has expanded the Chancellor’s Summer Research Excellence Fund, investing $1.4 million to increase the number of paid internships to 170 from 150 for students from across six campuses — including UB — and offer 45 new experiences focused on artificial intelligence research.

UB football head coach Pete Lembo is inviting UB faculty and staff to attend the Bulls’ Blue & White Spring Game on April 27.

Oboe soloist and UB music instructor Megan Kyle will perform in concert April 28 at UB.

Cristanne Miller, SUNY Distinguished Professor and Edward H. Butler Professor of English, College of Arts and Sciences, will officially launch her latest book, “The Letters of Emily Dickinson,” with a reading and conversation at 7 p.m. April 29 at Hallwalls, 341 Delaware Ave., Buffalo.

Six-time Grammy-nominated virtuosic pianist Yefim Bronfman will perform a program “celebrating Beethoven’s legacy” May 1 at UB.

Chandra R. Murphy, assistant to the dean of the Graduate School of Education, died April 16. She was 54. A UB staff member for 28 years, she profoundly impacted the institution and leaves an indelible mark on her colleagues.

A team of assessors from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will visit UB on May 12 as part of the UB Police Department’s (UPD) voluntary effort to gain its third successive accreditation from the IACLEA.

A panel discussion on artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. May 7 in 340 Student Union on the North Campus.

During the 2024 tax season, 97 IRS-certified accounting students from the School of Management brought nearly $307,000 back into the Buffalo community through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

“Spring into Art,” the annual showcase spotlighting the various visual and performing arts created in the Center for the Arts, take place on April 30 throughout the North Campus facility.

Volunteers are being sought for the 24th annual Fruit Belt Clean-a-Thon, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 24. The event is sponsored by the UB Center for Urban Studies, PS #37 Futures Academy, the Fruit Belt Coalition and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
