Welcome back with True Blue weekend of spirit, pride

Published January 30, 2024

The spring semester is off to a spirited start, with activities this weekend designed to get the entire UB community into the True Blue state of mind.

Things start off on Friday with the men’s basketball game in Alumni Arena. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m. Don’t forget to wear your blue to cheer on your Bulls as they take on MAC opponent Kent State. Students should get to the True Blue Student Corner early for special giveaways, like free chicken wings.

Then, carry all that energy into Victor’s House Party, taking place from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. inside the Edward Wright Practice Facility. Student Life and the undergraduate Student Association are bringing renowned EDM artist Cash Cash to campus to start the semester off the right way. Victor’s House Party is open to UB students only — no exceptions — and UB IDs will be checked at the door. Students will also need the UBLinked Event Pass to get into the event.

On Saturday, grab your blue UB gear and catch the wrestling match versus Northern Illinois at 1 p.m., followed by the women’s basketball game against Eastern Michigan at 6 p.m., both in Alumni Arena. Both teams will be sporting their blue uniforms.

Regional landmarks including Niagara Falls — beginning at 10 p.m — the Peace Bridge — at dusk — and the Center for the Arts will be lit blue to celebrate the weekend.

UB undergraduates are admitted to all UB sporting events free of charge by using the mobile app “UB rewards” to generate their free tickets. Graduate students can also attend the games for free as well by showing their student ID at the Alumni Arena ticket office. The first 750 students attending all three events will receive a free True Blue T-shirt featuring Little Victor. UB faculty and staff can select their seats and purchase tickets for any of the three events.

True Blue celebrates the power and the pride of the UB community. The True Blue website serves as a hub for True Blue spirit and history, showcasing stories, profiles, videos and photos, and inviting the entire UB community to submit their own. Share your pride with a photo by using #UBTrueBlue on social media or uploading their photo here.
