Trio of events concludes UB concert season

Three events in late April will conclude the Department of Music’s 2021-22 concert season.

All of the performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall, North Campus.

Faculty Recital: Aurora Borealis, April 24

Tiffany Du Mouchelle, voice, and Stephen Solook, percussion

Tickets: $10

The program, “Zeitgeist: musical contemplations of history, nature and culture,” will include world premieres of works by Stuart Saunders Smith and Christian Wolff, as well as Julius Eastman’s Prelude to “The Holy Presence of Joan d’Arc”

Eastman Organists, April 29

Jennifer Shin, Daniel Minnick and others

This annual collaboration with one of the most prestigious organ studios in the country is a highlight of every concert season.  Students who have performed in this recital in past years have gone on to win major organ competitions, as well as secure very prestigious organ posts across the country.

Slee Visiting Artist Series: Melissa White, violin, April 30

with Eric Huebner, piano

Tickets: $20

White, a member of the renowned Harlem Quartet, collaborates with UB faculty member Eric Huebner in a recital featuring selections from Jascha Heifetz’s transcription of George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess,” along with works by Grieg, Amy Beach, Fritz Kreisler and William Grant Still.

Tickets to all three concerts can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com or at the Center for the Arts box office from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, from noon to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. UB students are admitted free with valid ID.

Tickets can also be purchased at the door one hour before the performance.
