Hired, a newly launched professional clothing boutique in the Sustainability office in 115 Sustainability Center, is now open. UB students can visit to obtain free professional attire for interviews, career fairs or any professional experience.

Hired will be open by appointment only from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. To request an appointment, students should fill out the request form on the boutique’s website.

The boutique will hold a pop-up event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 16 in the Student Union Lobby. At the event, students will be able to browse through clothing items, enjoy refreshments, take advantage of some career resources and have a professional headshot taken.

Hired was inspired by the constraints that many people face when it comes to affordability of professional apparel, which can be expensive. The clothing boutique aims to alleviate the financial burdens on young people. Hired will also be a space for students of all genders, including students who may be in transition, to obtain clothing in a safe and welcoming setting.

Hired’s selection includes dress shoes, blazers, blouses, slacks, button-down shirts, skirts, dresses, suit jackets and jewelry in excellent pre-owned condition. The boutique provides students with a private space to try on as many items as they wish. UB students can take home one complete outfit per semester at no cost.

Further information can be found on the Hired website, or by calling 716-645-0668 or emailing sustainability operations coordinator Kayla Owen.
