Energy use, distribution topic of SUNY Distinguished Academy webinar

SUNY’s Distinguished Faculty will examine some of the key issues regarding energy use and distribution across the globe at a SUNY Distinguished Academy Event on Oct. 29.

The webinar, “Sustainability of Energy Resources,” will take place from 2-4:30 p.m. Register online.

The webinar will cover two topics: “Sustainability of Energy Resources in Transportation” and “Sustainable Energy Generation.” Speakers will include SUNY Distinguished Professors and other experts in the field. John D. Atkinson, the Scott and Coleen Stevens Chair in Engineering Sustainability and associate professor in the UB Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, will discuss “Waste as an Energy Resource” during the second session on “Sustainable Energy Generation.

Steven J. Fliesler, SUNY Distinguished Professor and Meyer H. Riwchun Endowed Chair Professor of Ophthalmology and vice chair and director of research in the UB Department of Ophthalmology, will deliver welcoming remarks and co-moderate the discussion following the presentations. Fliesler is vice chair of the SUNY Distinguished Academy Board.

The purpose of the SUNY Distinguished Academy is to serve as a formal organization to leverage the collective contributions of its members to build and support academic excellence within SUNY. The members of the academy include all active distinguished faculty appointed by the SUNY Board of Trustees.
