Campus Dining and Shops (CDS) has received a silver award in the 2020 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards sponsored by the National College and University Food Service Association (NACUFS).

The silver award, given in the “Residential Dining — Special Event” category for large institutions, recognizes “All Things Apple,” a special event dinner that showcased a menu full of New York State apples, along with themed activities for more than 1,300 students back in the fall of 2019.

Due to the pandemic, the NACUFS judges were not able to convene to judge the 2020 entries until this past week.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by our peers from other universities in this way,” says Eric Blackledge, CDS executive director. “These awards are among the most prestigious national honors in higher education culinary arts, and are a reflection of the talents and hard work of our dedicated staff.”

The award is the seventh Loyal E. Horton Dining Award that CDS has won.

The Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards, named for the NACUFS founder and past president, are the ultimate tribute in the campus food service industry. They recognize exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts, and provide an avenue for sharing ideas and creative presentations in campus dining services.
