Green your commute on May 21

Published May 6, 2021

UB faculty, staff and students are encouraged to use an alternative method of transportation to get to campus on Green Your Commute Day on May 21.

The options range from walking, biking, taking public transit, carpooling, driving an electric vehicle, or any mode of transportation that does not involve driving alone in a gas-powered vehicle.

Sponsored by Parking and Transportation Services and UB Sustainability, Green Your Commute Day coincides with National Bike to Work Day, which is also being celebrated nationwide that day.

UB green commuters can refresh at energizer stations at the Main Circle on the South Campus and Founders Plaza on the North Campus. Those who check in from 7:30-10 a.m. will find free snacks and other giveaways.

UB community members who work on the Downtown Campus can join the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus celebration on Washington Street between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. for food, electric assist bike demonstrations and tabling with GOBike Buffalo and Reddy Bikeshare.

Register for the event and use the carbon emissions calculator on the Green Your Commute home page to get an estimation of emissions saved. While on your commute, safely take a selfie and post it to social media using the hashtags #UBuffalo and #GreenYourWorkday.
