‘Thank a nurse’ through nursing school campaign

Published April 21, 2020

The School of Nursing is showing its support and gratitude to the nursing community by collecting messages of encouragement that it will share with nursing colleagues and those whose lives have been touched by the nursing profession.

The online thank-you message campaign comes at a time when nurses have been serving patients on the front line of the COVID-19 crisis. The effort to gather these messages of inspiration and encouragement also coincides with National Nurses Month in May.

“Nurses play the most vital role in providing health services to our family, friends and neighbors during this unprecedented time in our nation’s history,” says Sarah Goldthrite, director of marketing, communications and alumni engagement for the School of Nursing. “Each and every day, they’re making sacrifices for us as they serve on the front lines of care.”

This year, it’s more important than ever to support and express gratitude to nurses, Goldthrite says.

“If you are a nurse, this is a great chance to also recognize your colleagues, mentors, clinical sites or any nurse you know,” she says.

The School of Nursing will gather videos, photos and written messages until April 30. These messages will be shared on the school’s website, through social media and other communication channels.

“We encourage you to share this with friends and family, and to get everyone in your household involved,” Goldthrite says.
