A workshop to help faculty create accessible content using the UBlearns tool Ally will take place next week on the North and South campuses.
“Making Accessible Documents using Ally” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 5 in the Faculty Collaboration Studio, 6 Norton Hall, North Campus, and from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 6 in 208 Diefendorf Hall, South Campus.
With the number of online courses and digital content increasing, faculty face challenges when creating content that is accessible for all students. While some students have specific learning needs, others may simply have a preference in how they choose to receive and consume information.
During this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use Ally to help improve the accessibility of course content. Instructors will demonstrate how Ally auto-checks uploaded content for accessibility issues, offers feedback to correct problems and generates alternate visual and auditory accessible formats.
Participants should bring a laptop and sample documents.
The workshops will be led by Michelle Connolly, learning designer with the Center for Educational Innovation.
