Green Your Commute Day and National Bike to Work Day on May 17 promote and celebrate sustainable modes of transportation.
UB faculty and staff are encouraged to use a more sustainable mode of transportation to get to work that day, such as walking, biking, taking public transit, carpooling, driving an electric vehicle or anything else that doesn’t involve driving alone in a gas-powered vehicle.
Those who use an alternative mode of transportation to get to campus on May 17 can refresh at energizer stations at Main Circle on the South Campus, Founders Plaza on the North Campus and the first floor at the Washington Street side of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences building. Free refreshments, including juice, granola bars, fruit and water, will be available at all three energizer stations between 7:30-10 a.m. that day.
Participants who register in advance will be eligible for raffle prizes, among them bike helmets, bike tools and UB merchandise.
While on your green commute, take a selfie and post it to social media using #GYCD19.
The event is sponsored by Parking and Transportation Services, UB Sustainability, Three Pillars Catering and Campus Dining & Shops.
