The UB Libraries recently received three dozen books detailing the history and culture of India from Sandeep Chakravorty, Consul General of India in New York.

Chakravorty donated the materials on Sept. 5 during a visit to UB through India Corners, an initiative of the Consulate General of India that seeks to increase the presence of literature related to Indian culture and history in local and academic libraries.

The books, which are located in Lockwood Library, will be available for use by the UB community. The materials, written in several languages including Hindi, Bengali and Malayalam, will assist scholarly research in Indian and Asian studies.

During his visit, Chakravorty also delivered a welcome to new students from India and presented a public discussion on Indian foreign policy to an audience of faculty, staff, students and members of the Buffalo community.
