Work is expected to begin Aug. 9 to improve pedestrian safety at crosswalks at two major intersections on the Audubon Parkway on the North Campus.

Pedestrian traffic signals will be installed at the intersections of Audubon and Flint Road and Audubon and Rensch Road that will increase the time for pedestrians to cross the roadways to 45 seconds, says Martin Hohle, assistant director for facilities design and construction, University Facilities.

The crosswalks also will be restriped and old traffic signs replaced, Hohle says, noting that single-lane closures tentatively will be in place Aug. 16, 17, 20 and 21.

The project is slated to be completed by Sept. 1, with a goal of finishing work by Aug. 27, he says.
