Theatre and Dance to present ‘Hamlet’

The Department of Theatre and Dance will present William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” March 9-11 in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. March 9, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. March 10, and 2 p.m. March 11. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students from any school and seniors.

Tickets can be purchased online and through ticketfly.com or at the Center for the Arts box office.

In this story of treachery and revenge, Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, returns home from abroad to attend his father’s funeral and discovers his mother has already remarried his uncle. The young prince teeters on the edge of madness when a ghost reveals that his villainous uncle was responsible for his father’s death and demands Hamlet take vengeance.

The production is directed by guest director Kate LoConti and features 17 student actors, including Sawyer Matheny in the title role and Michaela J. Pace as Ophelia.

It also will be presented as part of the Center for the Art’s “On School Time” performance series.

The Department of Theatre and Dance’s 2017-18 season takes inspiration from the UB 2020 theme of “innovation.”
