Graham L. Hammill, vice provost for graduate education and dean of the Graduate School, has been appointed interim dean of undergraduate education, effective July 24.

Hammill, who will continue to serve as UB’s point person for graduate education during this interim period, succeeds Andrew M. Stott, who is leaving UB to accept a position as college dean of undergraduate education for the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California.

Hammill’s appointment was made by Charles F. Zukoski, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.

As interim vice provost, Hammill will provide leadership to Student Success and Retention, UB Curriculum, the Honors College and other living-and-learning communities, the Academies, the Educational Opportunity Program, and other opportunity and enrichment programs, including the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), the McNair Scholars program and Student Support Services.

Hammill also will oversee the approval process from the campus, SUNY and the state Department of Education for all changes in the undergraduate curriculum.
