‘Bridge’ lectures underway at Newman Center

Cindi Tysick, associate librarian and head of the Educational Services Team in Lockwood Library, will discuss “Finding Free, High-Quality Information and Research in the Social Sciences” in the next installment of the Bridge Lecture Series on June 28.

Tysick’s talk is part of the annual summer lecture series presented by the UB Newman Center.

The aim of the series, now in its 15th year, is to connect the UB family with the surrounding community.

All talks, which are free and open to the public, are held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Newman Center, 495 Skinnersville Road across from the Creekside Village apartments on the North Campus.

There is no lecture on July 5.

  • July 19: “Ways to Improve Cancer Treatment by Studying Genetic Pathways in Yeast,” Jennifer A. Surtees, associate professor of biochemistry.
  • July 26: Can Feminists Make Sense of Women’s Aggressions?” Carine Mardorossian, associate professor of English, and Susan Varney, clinical assistant professor of psychiatry.
  • Aug 2: “The Journey,” Trena Peel, head coach, women’s softball.
  • Aug 9: “When Rules Fail, Empathy Prevails,” Monsignor J. Patrick Keleher, director, UB Newman Center.
