Academic publishing topic of workshop

The UB Libraries will hold a free workshop for early-career faculty that aims to demystify the task of academic publishing.

Participants will receive insights and advice from journal editors, authors, book publishers and librarians on a range of topics that include getting published, peer review, the editorial process, copyright, fair use and more.

The workshop will take place March 30 in 310 Silverman Library in Capen Hall on the North Campus. A light lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with the program to follow at 1 p.m.

Registration is required.

The program will include two sessions:

  • Session 1: Faculty Advice for New Academic Authors, 1 p.m. Panelists include Frank Smith, director of Books at JSTOR; Michael Glick, William M. Feagans Chair in the UB School of Dental Medicine and editor of The Journal of the American Dental Association; and Corrie Stone-Johnson, UB associate professor of educational administration and associate editor of Leadership and Policy in Schools.
  • Session 2: Copyright and Fair Use for Faculty, 3 p.m. The session will be led by Karlen Chase, digital scholarship specialist in the UB Libraries.
