UB is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, ethics and principles. A critical component of that commitment, is ensuring that every one of us has the ability, responsibility and opportunity to raise questions or voice concerns about workplace and university issues in a secure and confidential manner.

Strengthening our commitment to advancing our university’s safety, security and ethical operational practices, UB has partnered with EthicsPoint, a third-party hotline and secure website that provides a confidential reporting mechanism. Through the establishment of this confidential and safe hotline and website, UB faculty, staff and students may raise questions or concerns regarding potential violations of university policies or suspected fraudulent or unethical behavior.

This secure website can be accessed at www.buffalo.ethicspoint.com and the confidential hotline can be reached by dialing 844-678-0455, toll-free within the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico or Guam.

Issues and behaviors of concern may include financial and academic fraud or theft, internal accounting control deficiencies, academic misconduct or unethical behavior. This is a safe and confidential reporting channel — no retaliatory action will be taken against anyone for reporting or inquiring, in good faith, about potential breaches of university policies or procedures, or for seeking guidance on how to manage suspected misconduct.

It’s important to note that the EthicsPoint hotline and website are not intended to replace existing policies and procedures, nor are they for reporting threats to life, personal safety or theft of personal items. For these types of emergencies, call 716-645-2222 to reach University Police or 911 for off-campus emergencies. Spam, phishing and other online security issues should be reported directly to UB Information Technology.

To report issues concerning employment-related discrimination or harassment, it is recommended that you contact Human Resources or Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). You may consult with an EDI representative without revealing your name. EDI can be reached through its website or by phone at 716-645-2266.

UB is an organization with strong values of responsibility and integrity, and standards of ethical conduct apply to all members of the university community. We are committed to an environment where open, honest communications are the expectation, not the exception. If you witness illegal, unethical or improper conduct on campus or in the workplace, the hotline and EthicsPoint website provide a simple, anonymous way to report it.
