National experts on public accounting and sovereign wealth funds will speak at the School of Management as part of this year’s Helen and Oscar Sufrin Lectureship in Accounting on Oct. 20 in the Newman Center at UB, 495 Skinnersville Road, Amherst.

Joseph M. Falbo Jr., partner at Tronconi Segarra & Associates, will speak at 9 a.m. about careers in public accounting and the importance of giving back through volunteerism.

At 10:30 a.m., David M. Neuenhaus, principal at KPMG, will address sovereign wealth funds (government-owned investment funds).

Falbo brings more than 25 years of public accounting experience to Tronconi, Segarra & Associates, where he focuses on international tax planning, consulting and compliance. He is also a member of the firm’s executive committee, which oversees the organization’s strategic planning and growth.

Prior to joining Tronconi Segarra & Associates in 2008, Falbo spent 18 years with a local public accounting firm, where he practiced in the audit and tax areas and eventually became a partner. Falbo is also the immediate past-president of a 28,000 member professional organization, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accounts.

Neuenhaus has more than 20 years of experience providing planning and structuring services to institutional investors. He is responsible for the leadership and global coordination of KPMG’s institutional investor group, as well as the delivery of services to institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds and pensions.

Previously, Neuenhaus served as the global lead for KPMG’s Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) network, as well as the U.S. National Inbound Tax Network Lead.

The free event will begin with a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m., and each lecture will end with a Q&A.
