Guitarist Shin to give recital

Guitarist Sungmin Shin will give a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall, North Campus.

Shin, who joined the UB faculty last semester as an adjunct instructor, will perform a program featuring his own music, as well as that of Beaser, Brahms, Debussy and Rodrigo.

Accompanying him will be UB faculty member Emi Ferguson, flute; Haeyeun Jeun, piano; Hee Sagong, violin; and the Eastman Guitar Quartet.

A composer as well as a guitarist, Shin balances his classical training with his deep roots in rock and popular guitar styles. As a soloist and chamber musician, he performs works in a wide range of styles, from classical standards to contemporary music and his own original music.

He received a master’s degree from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where he is studying for a doctor of musical arts degree.

Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for UB faculty/staff/alumni/seniors and non-UB students. UB students are free with ID.
