UB will join individuals and organizations across the country in observing the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Jan. 20 with a day of service.

The university is partnering with the Western New York Regional Volunteer Center to offer volunteer service projects in Western New York, including some in the University Heights neighborhood adjacent to the South Campus.

Other partners are the Service Collaborative of Western New York Inc. and the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County.

UB faculty, staff and students will be working for a half-day, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Those interested in taking part in the half-day of service should register online. Participants will be contacted closer to the event date with details about their work assignments and parking.

UB is closed on Jan. 20 for the holiday.
