The Great American Smokeout is Nov. 21, and Wellness Education Services has several activities planned during the next two weeks to help members of the UB community kick the habit.
Wellness Education Services staff will conduct smoke-free trivia sessions, hand out free nicotine-replacement medication (patches, gum and lozenges) and provide smoking cessation coaching from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in Crossroads Culinary Center, Ellicott Complex, North Campus, and from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Goodyear Hall lobby on the South Campus.
Staff also will be present from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Student Union Social Hall, North Campus, and from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Student Union lobby to provide snacks and games, as well as free nicotine-replacement medication and smoking cessation coaching.
A Quit Smoking Workshop will take place from 4-5 p.m. Nov. 21 in 250 Student Union.
Throughout the semester, Wellness Education Services offers Quit Smoking Walk-In Clinics from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, through Dec. 6, in 114 Student Union.
UB is a smoke-free campus, with smoking prohibited in all buildings and on the grounds — including green spaces — on the university’s three campuses.
