The Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (IAD) will host noted artificial intelligence scholar Deming Chen on Dec. 2 for its ongoing lecture series.
Chen, the Abel Bliss Professor in the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will speak at 3 p.m. in 205 Lockwood, North Campus.
He will discuss the A3C3 (Asynchronous Advantage Actor Centralized-Critic with Communication) method and why it has been so successful, especially when the method is applied to edge computing devices. Chen will also share new insights for applying A3C3 strategy to accelerating large language models.
Chen is an IEEE fellow, an ACM distinguished speaker and the former editor-in-chief of ACM Transactions on Reconfigurable Technology and Systems (TRETS). He serves as the Illinois director of the IBM-Illinois Discovery Accelerator Institute and director of the AMD-Xilinx Center of Excellence.
