The Slee Sinfonietta, UB’s professional chamber orchestra in residence, will perform a concert of solo and chamber works at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall, North Campus.

The program will include works by SUNY Distinguished Professor of Music David Felder, UB alumnus Nathan Heidelberger, UB PhD student Tomek Arnold, Harrison Birtwistle, Heinz Hollinger, and the legendary composer John Cage.

Performing will be Julia Cordani, soprano; Michael Tumiel, clarinet; Wei Han, piano; Robert Phillips, electronics; Tom Kolor, Steve Solook and Tomek Arnold, percussion; Rosanna Moore, harp; and Lynn Giam, violin.

The Slee Sinfonietta, which is also the flagship ensemble of the Robert and Carol Morris Center for 21st Century Music, presents a series of concerts each year of challenging new works by contemporary composers and lesser-known works from the chamber orchestra repertoire.

Founded in 1997 by Felder, and comprised of a core group that includes UB faculty performance artists, visiting artists, national and regional professionals, and advanced performance students, the group is conducted by leading conductors and composers.
