The Office of Community Relations will distribute kits containing tips on how to be a good neighbor, as well as other important information, around UB’s South Campus during Operation Doorhanger on Aug. 23.

UB staff members will hang bags on the door handles of about 1,500 homes to encourage students and lifelong residents to stay safe and work together to improve their community.

Now in its fourth year, this initiative is all part of the university’s continuing efforts to encourage community building and to make the South Campus neighborhood a better place to live.

Each year before the start of the academic year, UB distributes packets to students and neighborhood residents. This year’s bag contains an off-campus renters’ checklist to help evaluate a rental unit’s fire and life safety, a recycling guide, and a list of participating businesses that offer special discounts to UB students, faculty and staff, as well as coupons from local businesses, flyers for upcoming community events, and information about the University Heights Tool Library.
