UB-issued disability parking permits available

Published July 19, 2019

Beginning Aug. 26, university-issued disability parking permits will be required in addition to municipality-issued permits for members of the UB community who need special parking consideration due to a permanent or temporary disability.

The UB-issued disability parking permit requirement arose from focus group discussions held on campus this past spring.

The university-issued disability permit must be displayed along with the state permit.

To obtain a UB disability parking permit, bring your state-issued permit, or registration for your disability plates, and driver’s license to either of the Parking and Transportation Services offices on the North Campus: 106 Spaulding Quad, Ellicott Complex; or 1Capen, Capen Hall.

Individuals who have already received a faculty/staff or student permit for 2019-2020 will be issued a disability permit at no charge. Otherwise, the cost is $9.65.

Students, faculty or staff who are issued a UB disability permit do not need to purchase a separate general permit for access to student, faculty and/or staff parking lots. The permit issued will be valid in both types of parking areas.

A copy of your state-issued permit will be kept on file in Parking and Transportation Services. Permit-holders may request that a new UB disability parking permit be mailed to them if their UB-issued tag expires before the state permit.

More information is available by contacting Parking and Transportation Services at parking@buffalo.edu or 645-3943.
