Herron named information security officer

Mark Herron has been named UB’s new information security officer, effective Aug. 15.

The appointment was announced by J. Brice Bible, vice president and chief information officer.

Herron has more than 20 years of experience in information technology, security and compliance, most recently as information security officer at Central Michigan University.

His expertise includes risk assessment and mitigation, as well as compliance and governance activities, including regulatory and standards-based information security, and privacy certification and accreditation/compliance activities for NIST, HIPAA, FISMA, PCI, FERPA, among others.
