Grant funding from the Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) program subsidizes access to UB technical support, helping you foster breakthroughs with technological advances so you can lift your market share, create jobs and grow your business.

We know how costly it is to up your game. SPIR – a program of the State University of New York (SUNY) – supports development of new technologies in the state with engineering resources from the Buffalo, Binghamton, Albany and Stony Brook campuses, offered at a discount. As regional administrator for Buffalo, we provide industry partners with matching funds of up to $25,000 for UB engineering assistance, covering up to 50 percent of a total project cost. The grant is only available to New York State companies.

SPIR projects include, but are not limited to:*

  • Research & development projects
  • Finite element analysis, material design & selection
  • Layout & workflow analysis
  • Employing engineering graduate and PhD students

* Capital expenses are not covered
