Quantum Design Evercool II Physical Property Measurement System

The Quantum Design Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) is an open architecture, variable temperature-field system that is optimized to perform a variety of automated electrical and magnetic measurements.

The EverCool-II is an exciting cryogen-free enhancement to Quantum Design’s industry-leading Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) product line. It has been optimized to eliminate any need for buying cryogens, ever. The improved efficiency of the integrated cryocooler-based design now enables the initial cool-down procedure with only a standard helium gas cylinder. Fully automated operation is delivered to maintain optimal liquid helium levels.

  • Measurement options:
  1. DC Resistivity (standard, horizontal rotating)
  2. ACMS (AC/DC magnetization, AC susceptibility, hysteresis loop)
  3. VSM (Vibrating Sample Magnetometer)
  4. ACT (AC Transport)
  • Temperature range:
    • 1.9 K to 400 K (all the options other than ACMS)
    • 1.9 K to 350 K (ACMS only)
    • Always 4.2 K for cold head (base temperature)
  • Magnetic field: ±7 Tesla longitudinal magnet
  • Horizontal rotator for torque magnetometer and rotating DC resistivity measurement
  • Temperature sweep capability: 0.01 – 6 K/min
  • Magnetic field sweep capability: up to 193 Oe/sec
  • Up to 24 hours for cool-down from RT
  • Helium source gas cylinder (15 psi)
