How do we serve transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students better? Join trans activist, writer, and UB Distinguished Visiting Scholar Eli Clare to answer this question. We will explore issues around language, pronouns, names, restrooms, harassment, housing, and more, focusing on both policy and practice.

Eli Clare, UB Distinguished Visiting Scholar

White, disabled, and transgender, Eli Clare speaks, teaches, and trains all over the United States and Canada at conferences, community events, and colleges about disability, queer and trans identities, and social justice. He is also the author of three books, most recently the award-winning Brilliant Imperfection: Grappling with Cure. Currently, he is one of the 2020-21 University at Buffalo Center for Diversity Innovation Distinguished Visiting Scholars. Among other pursuits, he haswalked across the United States for peace, coordinated a rape prevention program, and helped organize the first ever Queerness and Disability Conference.
