UB will once again host Ride for Roswell, the annual bicycle ride to help raise funds in support of cancer research and patient treatment at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. But there’s a new element to this year’s ride on June 24: The event, which was previously held on the eastern end of the North Campus near Alumni Arena, is moving to the north end of campus in the Governors C and D, and Jarvis A and B lots. The Celebration of Hope will be held in the same location on June 23.
“Ride for Roswell has grown tremendously over the years, thanks to dedicated riders and community partners,” Ride for Roswell event organizers explain. “To ensure the ride experience is as positive and meaningful as possible, we have moved the event to a new location on UB’s North Campus. This new layout will allow more room for Ride Weekend.”
Ride for Roswell is one of the nation’s largest charity cycling events, bringing a community of people together to celebrate cancer survivors, pay tribute to those lost and share in a passion that connects us all: finding cures for cancer. The new space on campus means a better start-and-finish-line experience, a team tent village close to the action, new vendors and interactive activities.
“We are excited for the university to again partner with Roswell Park, this year moving to the north side of campus, which is more open and accessible to the community coming to campus to raise funds for cancer research,” says Amy Veiders, associate director of annual events.
The North Campus community should expect heavy pedestrian and bike traffic that Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Individuals are asked to take note of upcoming closures and plan their commutes accordingly. Detailed campus maps can be found here.
