Green your commute on May 20

Published May 16, 2022

UB faculty, staff and students are encouraged to use an alternative method of transportation to get to campus on Green Your Commute and Work Day on May 20.

The options range from walking, biking, taking public transit, carpooling, driving an electric vehicle, or any mode of transportation that does not involve driving alone in a gas-powered vehicle.

Those who are working remotely can keep with the spirit of this annual event by greening their workday from wherever they are logging in — bike or walk to lunch, the gym or the coffee shop.

Green your Commute Day is sponsored by Parking and Transportation Services and UB Sustainability.

UB green commuters can refresh at energizer stations at the Main Circle on the South Campus and Founders Plaza on the North Campus. Those who check in from 7:30-9:30 a.m. will find free snacks and other giveaways. Commuters arriving on bicycle will be entered into a drawing for one of six $50 gift certificates from Bert’s Bikes and Fitness.

UB community members who work on the Downtown Campus can join the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus celebration on May 19, from 6-9 a.m. at Ellicott and N. Oak streets. Boxed Bicycle Breakfasts will be given out to the first 50 people who arrive by bike; a raffle drawing of Rick’s Cycle Shop gift certificates also will be held.
