Buffalo News offers UB community access to digital editions

Published May 3, 2021

As part of The Buffalo News’ News in Education (NIE) program, all UB faculty, staff and students now have free unlimited access, through Aug. 31, to digital editions of The Buffalo News, which includes BuffaloNews.com, the daily E-edition and mobile app.

New subscribers wanting to utilize the NIE offer should visit go.BuffaloNews.com/ub-access and log in with their @buffalo.edu email. From there, they will be redirected to UB Duo to authenticate, and then will be returned to BuffaloNews.com where they will be logged in as “UB Member” with their UB email address. “My Account” features will not function; however, users can log out using the “log out” link in the drop-down menu.

The login process is slightly different for existing Buffalo News subscribers who have used their @buffalo.edu email address when they subscribed to The Buffalo News. When these users log in to BuffaloNews.com, they also will be redirected to UB Duo to authenticate with their UB credentials. From there they will be returned to BuffaloNews.com; however, they will be logged-in with their existing Buffalo News subscription credentials. The NIE subscription will not be added to their account and no other changes to their Buffalo News account will occur. These existing subscribers will still be able to access “My Account” to administer their account using their Buffalo News credentials.

Anyone experiencing difficulties signing on should contact The Buffalo News Subscriber Services.

NIE is a decades-old program created by The Buffalo News to encourage educators to use journalism as an instructional tool. The program is being expanded to include student populations as a way to further encourage their engagement with news and current affairs. UB’s participation is coordinated by UBIT and University Communications.
