Time quoted LaGarrett King in an article on how some teachers have taken a more nuanced approach to teaching about Martin Luther King Jr. How King Jr. is taught has largely remained unchanged over the last 40 years, said King. “Teachers still teach him as a moderate and passive,” he says. “Overall society hasn’t caught up to understand King’s nuances—particularly his thoughts around war and thoughts around poverty.”
