The Buffalo News interviewed Amanda Winkelsas for a front-page article on how the UB Teacher Residency Program is the “future of teacher education.” The program, created by the Graduate School of Education, provides aspiring teachers with intensive training to become a teacher, including co-teaching and being mentored by a veteran teacher in a Buffalo public school classroom for a full school year. “We have built a community of 70 residents, 60 mentors and more than 40 UB faculty,” said Winkelsas. “We are doing hard work together and moving closer to the educational spaces that matter to students.”
