Women’s Health quoted Catherine Cook-Cottone in an article on the public misunderstanding of what constitutes self-care. “Self-care isn’t something you buy,” said Cook-Cottone. “It’s an active practice of taking care of the internal aspects within the context of external pressures.” She recommends having a diverse portfolio of self-care, and remembering the acronym ART (attunement, responsive, and taking action) to determine if behaviors count as self-care.
