Underestimating the radicalism of Martin Luther King Jr's early work

The Washington Post published an op-ed by Victoria Wolcott which explains how Martin Luther King’s “vision of a society based on full equality predated the Vietnam War and the urban revolts of the 1960s by more than a decade.” The piece expands the timeline of MLK’s philosophies and activism to demonstrate that “well before the first bombs dropped in Vietnam and the urban rebellions exploded in American cities, King was challenging the most profound inequalities of class and race.”
