An article in USA Today about a proposal by Rep. Jackie Speier, D-San Francisco, to constitutionally guarantee equal rights for American women by passing the Equal Rights Amendment quotes Kari Winter, director of UB’s Gender Institute and an expert on gender and protest movements, who said there’s “a little piece of hope” that the issue will advance. "The misogynistic tenor of official Washington and the alt-right is really waking women who wanted to have the luxury of ignoring politics," she said. The article appeared in about 100 news outlets around the country, including the Louisville Courier-Journal, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Detroit Free Press, Arizona Republic and Newark Advocate.
