DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos, UB officials to announce major recycling grant Wednesday

Grant to focus on joint efforts of New York State and University at Buffalo to boost plastics recycling, improve the environment

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Officials from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the University at Buffalo will make a major grant announcement on Wednesday at UB’s North Campus.

The grant will expand a partnership between the DEC and UB that focuses on increasing plastic recycling and reducing plastic waste, while also improving the environment and fighting climate change.

News media are invited to attend the news conference.

Who: DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos; Kemper Lewis, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; Amit Goyal, the project’s principal investigator, a SUNY Distinguished Professor and SUNY Empire Innovation Professor in UB’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.

When: 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27.
