UB Alumni Association elects new president, officers

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Dharshan Jayasinghe, BA ’03, has been elected to serve a two-year term as president of the University at Buffalo Alumni Association, a group that represents the interests of more than 280,000 graduates around the world.

Jayasinghe, a native of Sri Lanka, is president and CEO for bizWin Strategies, which provides business intelligence, strategy consultation and executive search solutions for multiple industries; and Triad Healthcare Recruiting, a provider of clinical recruitment and executive search solutions to the health care industry.

Both companies have expanded market share to support clients in 15 states, and in 2019, Triad Healthcare Recruiting committed $100,000 to establish the ASCEND Triad Healthcare Recruiting Scholarship for Health Professions at UB.

Jayasinghe succeeds Gary Jastrzab, BA ’76 as board president. Jastrzab will continue to serve on the board as past president. 

Jayasinghe, who also graduated from UB’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL), held a variety of board positions prior to being elected president, including special advisor to the philanthropy committee and a member of the finance, executive, engagement and audit committees.

In addition, he has served on numerous boards of directors in the Western New York community, including the American Heart Association, The Buffalo Club, The Buffalo Renaissance Foundation and Vistage International. He is also a member of the UB Advancement Council and UB School of Management’s Health Care MBA advisory panel, and is a mentor for UB’s CEL program.

Our student athletes are gaining national recognition and our graduates are impacting nearly every aspect of our global economy. I am proud to engage our worldwide alumni population to reach these goals.”

Past president representative, Joseph P. Lojacono, MBA ’80, BS ’79, of Amherst, N.Y., president, Valmark Associates LLC.

Also newly elected to the board are:

Eric Cortellessa, BA ’14, of Washington, D.C., investigative editor at The Washington Monthly.

Carolyn Farrell, MS ’84, BS ’71, of Williamsville, N.Y., health care genetics consultant and genetics counselor.

Larry Mathews, BS ’69, of Buffalo, N.Y., senior engineer at Lu Engineers.

Jay Nisberg, BA ’68, of West Palm Beach, Fla., president at Jay Nisberg & Associates, Ltd.

Mary Szabat, BA’ 91, of Williamsville, N.Y., vice president at Key Bank.
