Job opportunity and training forum being held today

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo is holding “Pathways to Careers in the Medical Sector,” a job opportunity and training forum, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. today, May 14, in UB’s Educational Opportunity Center, 555 Ellicott St., adjacent to the UB Gateway Building in downtown Buffalo.

The forum will provide information about careers that will result from the expansion of health care in Buffalo Niagara and the education, training, recruitment and placement opportunities that are available.

Industry leaders will be available to talk about health care employment and projections for the future workforce needs. They are:

  • Christina Orsi, Empire State Development;
  • Richard Cleland, Erie County Medical Center;
  • Norma Nowak, UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences; and
  • Jon Hart, The McGuire Group.

In addition, a number of local employers will be available to discuss current job opportunities and career pathways with their organizations.

Cosponsors of the forum are the Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Investment Board Inc., New York State Department of Labor and Buffalo Urban League.
