BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The sixth annual Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk showcasing gardens in the University Heights and Eggertsville neighborhoods will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 7 in the neighborhoods near the University at Buffalo South (Main Street) Campus.

The event has been growing each of the past six years. Forty-eight gardens were featured last year, and organizers are hoping to surpass that number this year, says Pamela K. Beal, neighborhood outreach coordinator for the UB Office of Community Relations, which organized the walk in partnership with the University Heights Collaborative, the Eggertsville Community Organization and the Gloria J. Parks Community Center.

All residents are welcome to participate and entrants will receive a 15 percent discount at Snyder Ridge Landscaping.

To enter a garden in the Garden Walk, residents must submit an application by June 26. To submit an application online, go to http://www.buffalo.edu/YourUB/garden. Printed application forms also are available in the UB Office of Community Relations in Allen Hall on the South Campus.

Walkers can pick up maps on the day of the event at 250 Capen Blvd. and at the Office of Community Relations in Allen Hall.

For more information about the garden walk, call the Office of Community Relations at (716) 829-3099.
